I can't text chat with hosts and I haven't tried Video Chatting with them
- Please make sure you have the minimum requirements necessary to Video Chat:
- Configuring the AOL Safety and Security Center
- Enabling ActiveX, Java and cookies
Please make sure that all the ActiveX options, Java features and cookies are enabled by following the instructions for your browser.
- If you have followed the above but are still unable to chat, click here

Configuring the AOL Safety and Security Center
If you have the AOL Safety and Security Center installed on your computer, please follow the steps below.
- Click the Start button on the bottom left-hand corner of your taskbar

- Select Control Panel from the menu
If you do not see the Control Panel option:
- Point to Settings

- Then click the Control Panel option

- In the Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools
If you do not see Administrative Tools in the list:
- click Performance and Maintenance

- Then click Administrative Tools

- Double-click Services.

- Look for CA Pest Patrol Realtime Protection Service in the list.
- If you do not see the CA Pest Patrol Realtime Protection Service, this means you do not have the AOL Security Center installed and you can skip to the steps for enabling ActiveX controls.
- If this service is installed on your computer, double-click it.
- In the window that opens, click the Stop button.

- In the same window, open the Startup type dropdown menu and choose Disabled.

- To close the Services window, click OK.
- Please restart your computer.

Internet Explorer users - Enabling ActiveX, cookies and Java
- Open your browser and go to the Tools menu

- Select Internet Options

- Click the Security tab
- Make sure the Internet globe is highlighted
- Press the Default Level button.
If you are unable to click the Default Level button, your browser security settings are already set to the default level. In this case, please proceed to the next step.

- Click the Privacy tab
- Set the slider to Medium so that your computer can receive cookies.

- To exit the Internet Options window, click OK.

Firefox users - Enabling ActiveX, cookies and Java
- Go to the Tools menu
- Choose Options

- Click the Content icon at the top
- Make sure the "Enable Javascript" and "Enable Java" boxes are checked

- Click the Privacy icon at the top
- Make sure the "Accept cookies from sites" box is checked and the "Keep until" drop-down menu is set to "they expire."

Further technical assistance
- Click on the following link to uninstall Flash:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/ current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
- Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box.
Click Run.

- After Flash has been successfully uninstalled, restart your computer.
- Reinstall Flash by clicking on the following link:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/ download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
- Make sure the box for installing the Yahoo toolbar is not checked if this option is offered, as the Yahoo toolbar contains a pop-up blocker which may interfere with the download of the ImLive Video Chat component.

- It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.
- Click the Install Now button to automatically download and install Adobe Flash Player.
- Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box.
Click Install.
- When the installation is complete, you see the Adobe Flash Player logo and text.
- Please restart your computer once more.
