My webcam does not work (Mac built in CAM)
|
Solution 1:
-
Make sure iChat AV is not running, and that the program Photobooth has been disabled.
-
When you are in a Host's chat room, try turning off your iSight camera, then turn it back on.
-
Whenever the camera is activated, by default the system will launch iChat AV, thus taking over the camera. Therefore, we would like to ask you to try disabling the
auto-launch feature by selecting "Preferences..." from the iChat menu (or use 'option' + ',' keys), click on the 'Video' preferences, then uncheck the 'Automatically open
iChat when camera is turned on' option.
-
Be sure to quit iChat (using 'option' + 'q' keys), which releases control of the iSight camera.
-
Make sure you have selected the correct driver from the list of camera drivers (ctrl-click on the camera window > choose Settings > click on the camera tab >
choose the correct camera driver from the dropdown menu (usually "USB Video Class Video," but this name may vary).
-
Start your camera again.
Solution 2:
The general problem is that when the iSight camera turns on, it automatically launches a
camera application. If one camera application is "using" your camera, you will not be able to see yourself during a chat room, as ImLive's Flash-based application will not be able to
access your camera. Therefore, what you need to do is make sure that you close all applications that may be using your camera while you are in a chat room. The most common applications
that may be running are iChatAV and Photobooth. You don't need to actually uninstall these programs, just make sure that they are not running in the background (that you exit from them
completely using the Option+Q keys) during a chat.
If your camera does not turn on automatically, twisting the lens slightly usually does this.
If the problem persists, please send us a screenshot showing what you see during a chat when you ctrl-click on your camera feed, choose Settings, click the camera tab, and open the
dropdown menu. To take a screenshot, press Apple (Command)+Shift+3 when you reach the screen in question. The screenshot will be saved on your desktop as "picture #."
Attach the file to an email and send the email to info@ImLive.com.
